 Dining at CSR with food allergies

PostSubject: Dining at CSR with food allergies   Mon Jan 24, 2011 6:24 pm

We are coming in March and I am concerned about CSR and my son's gluten allergy. Restaurants I have ADR for I am okay with because they cater to his condition. Of all message boards that I have seen CSR does not get good ratings with dining w/allergies (especially Pepper Market). Any info would be appreciated.

welcome to the CSR Forum!

I do not have any personal experiences with this type of request but I have read a few positive remarks regarding the helpfulness of the Pepper Market staff to make sure these types of needs are met. Just make them aware as you order or speak to the manager.

I'll search around to see if I can find them.

My nephew has a peanut allergy. His family stayed there 2 years ago and from what I recall - there were no problems. (trust me - if there had been even a minor issue - I would remember my SIL telling me all about it - about 500 times. Wink )

I haven't eaten at CSR in years, but we will be in the same boat for allergies and dining. My oldest has had anaphylactic reactions to peanuts, tree nuts, grapes, and allergic to many other foods. I email Brenda Bennet at Brenda.Bennett@disney.com and explain the food allergies, where we plan to eat and any ADR numbers we have, along with our name, and resort reservation number, my contact info as well. Usually within a few days she responds and chefs begin to call our house.

For counter service restaurants, there will be a notebook of all the foods and their ingredients. Be prepared to wait extra time to have food specially prepared. At Pop century, the chef wouldn't allow my son to eat the orzo because of the cross contamination with the green beens in preparation. He prepared my sons orzo from scratch in a new pan. This took a long time, but better safe than sorry!
