PostSubject: Dining Decisions   Sat Feb 19, 2011 11:38 am

We're busy putting together our final list of table service choices for this year. As usual, we try to include some old favorites as well as try some new places. I was hoping my fellow CSR enthusiasts would have some comments on some of the new places we plan on trying - maybe make the final decisions a bit easier:

We'd like to try to fit in a seafood dinner and have narrowed that down to 2 choices...neither of which we've tried before. We are choosing between Coral Reef and Narcoossee's. We really aren't doing character meals this year so I was thinking that the kids would love Coral Reef. But I must admit that the kids menu looked to be one of the worst I've seen. The Narcoossee's kids menu had more and better selection but I really think the atmosphere of Coral Reef would be a blast for the kids. Who's eaten at either of these places??

We are also trying to schedule an Italian night. I was thinking Tony's Town Square because we don't seem to do many dinners in MK. The other option would be Tutto Italia. Again both of these are new to us so I'd appreciate any thoughts on either.

Thanks in advance!

We had excellent service at Coral Reef, the atmosphere was wonderful, and felt the food was ok. The wait time past our ADR, however, was a nightmare. The adult desserts here were pretty good, and alcoholic, for a reason.....my head was killing me after that wait.

Thanks for the thoughts everyone!

Decided to go with Coral Reef - mainly for the experience for the kiddos. Happy kids during the meal = better meal for the parents Wink

And went completely the other direction and decided to give Tutto Italia a try. I think I personally will miss the experience of dinner in the MK. I was hoping for a late reservation - possibly viewing the Electric Light parade - but decided that my DH was really pushing for Tutto Italia and a really nice italian meal.

Kathiep, where else are you eating? Are you doing Japan again? I know that we keep thinking that when we go back we definitely want to try California Grill-I don't think I have heard anything bad about it yet. We also really loved Le Celliers. I am in a Disney depression right now, really want to go back. Lots of changes with my job lately too, it's been stressful so maybe a good thing we aren't going this summer but we are shooting for the next!

We are trying Coral Reef again in September, as well as Le Celier and California Grill. CG is just...just...well, I heart California Grill. Almost as much as I heart my Flyers.

Laurel - sorry to hear things aren't going so well. When times get me down - I just immerse myself in planning for our next trip!! Helps makes the daily troubles a little less bad.

AJsMommy - I guess California Grill must be pretty good because I'm getting a real good feel for how much your Flyers mean to you Wink

As of now - the new ones to us are California Grill, Coral Reef, Rose & Crown & Tutto Italia.

Some repeat faves are Boma, Crystal Palace breakfast, Biergarten and Teppan Edo. We all really loved Teppan Edo last year and I hope it lives up to our memories. We had an experience a few years ago where we had a perfect meal - or maybe it just became perfect in our memories. Well - we decided to try again and although it was still a nice meal - I think we glorified it so much that there was no way it was going to live up to our recolllection. Hopefully this won't happen with Teppan Edo.

We're also looking forward to trying counter service at La Hacienda - it wasn't open last year when we were there.

So what have you ended up with?? I just made our ressies for our late sept/early Oct trip and I am hoping I have made some good decisions!! We decided against Coral reef and Tony's.... they were both on our original lists, but have since been replaced! When is your trip??

We're going in August. As it stands now, we check in on the 20th and check out on the 27th.

I say as it stands now because I tend toward obsessively planning and changing things - a lot . Every year - I end up adding days either to the start or the end of the trip.

So as of now...these are our ADR's:

Dinner at Tutto Italia - new for us
Dinner at Boma - did this 4 years ago and loved it. Then the following year it was only Ok so we haven't been back. Time to give it another shot.
Dinner at Rose & Crown - another new one for us
Dinner at California Grill - new to us...not 100% sure this won't change
Breakfast at Crystal Palace -
Dinner at Coral Reef - new to us; have heard a lot of good & bad - but the kids really wanted to try it
Dinner at Teppan Edo - had a wonderful meal here last year so we wanted to try it again. Hope it lives up to our memories.
Dinner at Biergarten - another family fave. Such a great atmosphere and so much fun

Those are some great places. I want to do the California Grill in November.

I am just so torn about the California Grill. I do hear really good things about it but some reason can't get myself overly excited to try it. I'm really going to have to think on that one and see what else might be open that night that we either haven't tried or would like to do again.

Can anyone here talk me into it??

I can't talk you into it. It's another restaurant we have never been to. If you end up here, I hope you will take plenty of food pics!

We love the Coral Reef! We prefer the lunch menu over the dinner menu, because the item my hubby orders is only available on the lunch. We always ask for Iliana to be our server. She is such a gem! Since they added it to the menu in the fall, I always get the stuffed phyllo. It replaced the vegetarian lasagna. I absolutely do not like their Ragou sauce! It leaves such a nasty after taste. So I order the phyllo without sauce and it's actually moist enough that it can be eaten without the sauce. I'm not much of a drinker, but I do enjoy the Captains Rum Runner there.

John, our resident CM, raves about it. He set it up for me during one of our trips but I had to cancel. I have to get there in November.

Ok, Kath, since hearing I heart CG ALMOST as much as I heart the boys in orange and black didn't do it...I will try to persuade you with other methods..

You can watch "Wishes" in air conditioned comfort WHILE eating some of the best cheesecake ever made. And I also happen to heart cheesecake. Very much. Not as much as I heart Danny Briere and my Flyers, but it's close.
The waiters know your names, and use them, all night...
White linen tablecloths....
Amazing food...seriously, some of the best I have EVER had. I had the beef fillet, and while they GAVE me a steak knife, that beef was so tender, my fork went through like a hot knife through melted butter. Even my DS's mac and cheese was freaking awesome...
Did I mention the awesome view of Wishes, with the music piped in? No annoying crowds, no mad rush..
A PRIVATE elevator.
If you think you get the royal treatment at CRT, wait 'til you try CG.
Seriously, I was a little "meh" about trying CG because of the price...it was the very 1st ADR I made this year. Worth every, single penny.

Ok - that's helping Ajsmommy. One of the things in the back of my mind was your (I think) comment about not feeling dressed well enough last year. We tend to be pretty casual on vacation and I wasn't sure if I wanted to go somewhere like that. I was also a little bit offput by the price - by maybe you're right. Maybe we need to be treated royally for one nite!

Ok, I'm chiming in here but not with a whole lot of anything...! I have heard so many bad things about Coral Reef, we opted out of eating there last year but I would still be open to trying. I have a very good friend that is very ver picky about everything and she and her family have made CG their absolute favorite place! As for CRT, we loved it very much, had a window seat with perfect view of of fireworks, just loved it-BUT I have to say that we had the most unfriendly service there of any place we ate all week. We definitely did not let it spoil our dinner, but we had to servers and they both acted as if they would rather be having dental surgery than being there that night. Kathiep and AJ's, can't wait to hear about your upcoming trips!
