PostSubject: Bus Transportation   Thu Apr 26, 2012 3:48 pm

I guess my only real complaint about the resort was the bus transportation. Only twice were we able to board a bus to the parks or DTD and it be in 20 minutes or less. And our trip was an off season after spring and Easter breaks had ended.

The Animal Kingdom bus was to go to Blizzard. They also had the MGM bus going to Blizzard beach the entire time we were there, opposite direction. We waited 45 minutes for a bus to the studios. 50 minutes for a bus to the MK. DTD both ways were over 50 minutes and that bus makes a lot of stops to and from. It was painful.

I've stayed at a good chunk of the hotels, but not the values, so I can't comment on their procedures but I did see one thing about CSR design that seemed to throw all the buses off kilter. CSR can only load one bus at a time. At many times there were two or three or more buses stuck behind the front bus loading. There are so many electric carts these days at the resorts heading to the parks, it does add to the commute time. If the bus is unloading one and loading two, those buses are trapped behind a great deal of time.

One bus driver was surprised when he hit bus stop 4 and nobody wanted to get on his bus, it was empty and heading to DTD. I told him there was a DTD bus at best 60 seconds ahead of him. My thought was he should have just headed straight to DTD, cause the lead DTD bus had to go to the Lagoon first.

The upside was Disney had "shirts" every morning we were there, recording wait times for buses. They were taking a lot of abuse because the wait times were pushing the patience level of guests. They would also tell you approximately how much longer it would be. It did not go over well when the bus arrived at bus stop one after a long wait and there wasn't space for the crowd wanting on the bus.

In all my trips to WDW and with 90% of the stays at CSR, I've always had good luck with the bus service. A lot of it has to do with timing. If you just happen to show up and you just missed your bus, the next one is 10 - 20 mins out. That's pretty much what they promise. And I've only had to stand on a CSR bus a hand full of times at closing.

We did three weeks at CSR relying on bus transport the whole time and never waited very long for any destination. We'd happily use that option again Very Happy

Wow- that surprises me too. We've done two trips to CSR, in Oct. and Nov. and never had any long waits. On one trip my DH was even using a scooter cuz he'd just had ankle surgery, and the bus drivers were very quick and efficient. We drive, and when we stayed at the All-Stars and Pop we just drove everywhere, but we tried the buses at CSR because of the scooter. We liked the effectiveness so much that we relied on them pretty much our entire last trip too. Sorry you didn't have as much luck with them.

We have stayed at CSR 4 times, and every time have had almost perfect bus service. Only a few times each trip have we had to wait more than 15 minutes or so, and only one time sticks out that we ahd to wait over 20minutes. (making us cut it close for our breakfast ADR) Leaving the parks has always been flawless as well, we have never had to wait for a second bus at park closing times. I think it really has alot to do with luck.

They only time that we had a problem with the bus service is when we were waiting for an Epcot bus, we missed one by 3 seconds.... waiting about 30 minutes for another one, but it happens.
