Which one would you choose to stay in? We love the look of the Casitas Buildings, and would probably request Bldg 5 as it looks like it would be the quietest. But the beachy theme of the Cabanas looks real fun too. We will be travelling with our 2 kids. Although we won't be going to the pool too much, we might take advantage of hanging at the playground, movies in the evenings, etc. We also, will walk to Pepper Market for breakfast every am. We enjoy walking in the early am, but don't want to walk too far and tire the kids out before we get to parks. Is Cabanas always crowded and lous as it is popular with families? I could see the Casitas being popular with conventioneers. Suggestions? Opinions? Thanks a bunch!

The main reason I request the Cabanas is because of my son's medical stroller. The first floor of the cabanas is at ground level so we can go directly from our room to a walkway. The Casitas are a bit raised and we have to go in search of a ramp since steps are a challenge for him at times. If that wasn't in the mix, I'd choose the Casitas.

I like that the Casitas quiet pool has towels there. The Cabana's quiet pool does not. You have to bring towels from your room.

I love how the atmosphere of the Casitas is transformed at night, the fountains and courtyards are so pretty when all lit up!

The quiet pool at the Casitas is really nice too, but it's pretty deep. Neither me nor my ds7 could stand anywhere but near the entry steps. I went out and got a water noodle for in case we get the Casitas.

The Casitas also has the fitness center and spa, which is a plus if you are going to use it.

We were in Casitas 5 for our 20th Wedding Anniversary trip in August. I really enjoyed our location except for the steps being an inconvenience for ds. It was a beautiful walk to El Centro and it really wasn't far from the Dig Site.

Our trips have been in Oct. and Nov., and the resort overall was very quiet and relaxing. Last time we had cabanas 8, and we were close to the dig site, but it was still quiet. Not a far walk to the Pepper Market, and my DH and DS walked to the fitness center in Casistas. Also, it was close to the bus stop. I don't think you can go wrong with the entire resort!

There are 2 buildings I wouldn't want. Building 2 because of the elevator and Ranchos building 6B because it's kind of in no man's land.

I hear some of Cabanas building are now preferred rooms? Would we have a better chance of getting what we want if we ask for Casitas and not Cabanas, since Casitas is larger? I would hate to get stuck in Ranchos. Also, we would like to ask for ground floor. How often do you get that when requesting?

Only casitas 1, 2, and 3 are the preferred locations. There is a rumor that beginning in 2013, cabana 9b, and depending on the success, cabana 9a, will be turned into concierge level rooms for $20 more per night. The buildings will have access to the lounge located in 9b. We toured it in May and they changes they made look very nice.

I am wondering if this is the business class rooms which adds a price to our room of close to 400. for the week.

So we are deciding if we want to upgrade at a cost of 200 per room to the preferred rooms but with our luck the past 3 times with requests not being me at all I' am kind of afraid we would get put in casista #2.

if I could request 1 or 3 and get it-- I would pay for it.

im not sure what to do.

we will have two infants. 2 (maybe only one) wheelchair. 12 people- 4 rooms.

The rumor has come true and beginning in 2013, club level rooms in cabana 9b will be offered to regular guests. Price varies depending on season.

Just a quick note to say HI and that we are booked for this July 17-24 at the "Nado" This our first stay here.

Based on what I've read so far, we requested the Casitas when making our reservation and I'll send a fax a couple of weeks prior requesting Bldg #4 with a view of the Parking Lot.

Bldg #4 seems to be the closest to Bus Stop #2, which I understand the the 1st Pick-Up stop for the Resort to the Parks. In the past, we have stayed at other resorts and had to stand on the bus because we were at the last stop in the resort.

So, my question is do I have the correct? Your input is appricated.

Thanks!
Terry

Yes Terry, you have it correct. Casita 4 or 5 are close to bus stop #1 which is the first stop for park buses. Being a convention resort, I think you'll find that most times the buses are relatively empty except for park closing and peak AM time.

Terry,

We stayed in Casitas building 3 a couple of years ago and I feel it was the most convenient for shuttle access. You're right, stop #2 is the first stop the resort shuttles makes at CSR...stop #1 is actually the last stop on the resort. What I found was that we could save a significant amount of time on the shuttles by going to stop #1 when leaving the resort, and getting off at stop #2 when returning. This way, we didn't have to ride the shuttle through the whole resort and wait to unload/load at each stop. We never had any trouble with overcrowded shuttles.

We'll be at CSR again in a week or so, and have requested the Cabanas...solely for the purpose of being closer to the dig site.
