Casitas 2 is done and that they are currently working on both Casitas 1 and 3. These are the last two buildings! They seem to be way ahead of schedule.

Welcome aboard.

I would say yes because if they close casitas 1 & 3 for rehab, all the other buildings are done.

ROOM REHAB UPDATE!! - Parts of casita 1 & 3 are now open. Since these two buildings are very large, it only makes sense to begin to allow guests to stay in the completed rooms.

I had 2 rooms booked at CSR, then got a look at some of the photos of the refurbed rooms - Changed reservation immediately. I was never ecstatic about CSR room designs, but I did like the exterior. The new rooms are cool because they have queen beds and flat panel TV's, but other than that, they are ugly. Boring color scheme. Plain bed spreads. No interesting theme.

Switched ressie over to Port Orleans.

Its too bad you didn't give the resort a chance. Maybe next time.

We found the new rooms to have a very "cool, clean" feel to them. Granted, we weren't so sure the decor fit in with the rest of the resort, but we really enjoyed the new decor.

Looks like the rehabs are done and life is back to normal. It will be interesting to see what changes come next.

Awesome news, Buzz! Maybe PM will be next? (unfortunately been reading a lot of really bad reviews about it lately; don't think we'll get a chance to try it on our short trip when we arrive on the 18th).

As long as the PM has that 10% gratuity, it will always get bad reviews. It irks a lot of guests. The tip doesn't bother me though. What does bother me is the good items being removed from the menu. IMO, its all because of the DDP and the fact that the restaurants at CSR at not operated by WDW. If we were just talking burgers and chicken fingers like the other CS locations, that would be fine but when your losing rib eye and wet burritos and all the larger items, the only thing to do is write guest services and voice your opinion. I still bother them about the direct bus to the Boardwalk.

I see what you are saying. We'll try to grab one meal there and I'll see how it is (we're not on the dining plan this time) and shoot off an email to guest services. Can you believe just 5 more days????

I'm sure I'll still find many things to love though. I'm going to the Reuben sandwich on the lunch menu. The wings are very good too! Have a great trip Kathy! I look forward to reading your report!

My best guess, and this is just a guess, is that the food that was provided by the PM was more than the DDP quick service compensated. The quick service operation is now Cafe Rix's and the PM is moving to a transitional food service. Drinks are no longer self serve, food is no longer self service. I would think that a cocktail bar will open inside for when the weather is too lousy for the Laguna Bar. I would not be surprised to see the PM become a buffet dining venue; but NONE OF THIS HAS BEEN ANNOUNCED TO US!!!!

The guests have become very used to the exceptional quantities and varieties of the PM and it will be difficult to re-adjust to "normal" service. Remember to compare the food service to the other comparable services on WDW. Of course, IF such changes come the 10% will disappear. I think it is necessary to offset costs right now. It really is not a matter of it being third party providers, just costs.

PostSubject: Bus to Boardwalk   Tue Sep 22, 2009 12:27 am

The trouble with buses to other resorts is that there simply is not enough need to justify the cost of purchasing and operating extra buses. On the few occassions when people need transport to another resort, there is usually a way to get there with a single transfer. Even if there were 100 guests that needed to get to Boardwalk on any day, it would never pay for a bus to be running all day long for that service, and the fact is there is probably not 200 CSR guests going from CSR directly to all other resorts on any day.

Remember, a cab is never more than $15 anywhere on WDW property.........that is usually the best bet for fine dining at one of the deluxe resorts.

Welcome back and I hope your feeling better.

I agree with you, the DDP killed a lot of good restaurants because of the compensation or lack of to cover costs. I'm curious to see what the final product will look like. I always thought it was hilarious when guests tried to compare the old Pepper Market with other food courts.
