Disney has today confirmed that the Main Street Bakery at the Magic Kingdom will become home to Walt Disney World's first Starbucks location.

Set to close in January 2013, the Main Street Bakery will then reopen as Starbucks in the early summer of 2013. Also announced was the Fountain View in Epcot's Future World will be home to the second Starbucks. Both locations will offer the full complement of Starbucks signature beverages, artisan breakfast sandwiches and a wide selection of baked goods, including muffins, scones and specialty treats.

Originally announced back in April 2012, the first location opened at the Disneyland Resort in California. There are plans for their to be a Starbucks in all six of the domestic parks.

I would like a moment of silence for my Ice Cream Cookie sandwich from the Main Street Bakery. No

This is a terrible thing IMO. Main St USA is supposed to be modeled after Walt's hometown. I don't think they had Starbucks back then.

From the Disney Parks Blog:

As we announced earlier this year, six Starbucks locations are planned at Disney Parks in Florida and California. In June, the first Starbucks location opened at Disney California Adventure park in the Fiddler, Fifer and Practical Café and is already a guest favorite.

Today, we’re excited to share that the first two Walt Disney World Resort locations will open next year, one at Magic Kingdom Park and one at Epcot.

At Magic Kingdom Park, Main Street Bakery will close for refurbishment in January 2013 and reopen as a Starbucks location in early summer. At Epcot, Fountain View will close in March 2013 and reopen as a Starbucks location in midsummer.

Both locations will be designed to fit the theme of their surroundings. At Magic Kingdom Park, for example, cast members will wear a costume consistent with the early 20th century look and feel of Main Street, U.S.A. At Future World in Epcot, the new Starbucks location and cast member costumes will be designed to match the park’s futuristic theme.

The Starbucks locations at Magic Kingdom Park and Epcot will both offer the full complement of Starbucks® signature beverages, artisan breakfast sandwiches and a wide selection of baked goods, including muffins, scones and specialty treats.

More Starbucks locations are coming to Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland park soon. We’ll be sure to keep you posted!

I agree. I don't think this will be a popular decision. I'm ok with putting in. Starbucks, but why there? My family has already decided to boycott that location. We loved the Main Street Bakery. Why not put it in Tomorrow Land, it would fit in better over there?

The Fountain View location will probably upset less people, but I think the email boxes are filling with complaints right now at Disney over the Main Street location.

I'm not a fan of this either. A big part of why we go on vacation is to get away from our "normal lives." I've always felt Disney does a spectacular job at "transporting" us to different times and places. While I like certain conveniences while on vacation, I think this will just remind me of everyday life. Are people really that addicted to Starbucks or that opposed to drinking other kinds of coffee?

I love my Starbucks and was beyond excited to know I would be able to get my fix. However, Main St is not the best location. From what I understand, they will still have Baked Goods a la Main St. bakery, not Starbucks stuff. Still, it should be in Tomorrowland! I wonder if they will change their minds, there's been a lot of backlash about this.

Disney has posted an update on the Official Disney Parks Blog regarding the upcoming changes to the Main Street Bakery and the integration of Starbucks.

The change that will see Starbucks introduced into the Main Street Bakery in mid 2013 has generated a lot of discussion, with a good proportion appearing to not be in favor of the changes. The thread on our discussion forums has already reached over 41 pages since Friday evening.

Here is the update from Disney.

UPDATE 11/12: Here’s some additional information about our Walt Disney World Resort Starbucks locations. The Main Street Bakery will keep its name and theming when it reopens in early summer. It’ll also continue to serve Disney favorites like cookies, brownies and seasonal cupcakes, in addition to Starbucks signature beverages and other items. And for those of you who asked in comments, the cinnamon rolls are available at Gaston’s Tavern in New Fantasyland, and the ice cream sandwiches are available at Plaza Ice Cream Parlor on Main Street, U.S.A.

From the updates that are coming out I think I'm ok with this as long as the Ice Cream Cookie Sandwich at the Plaza is the same. I can get ice cream and cookies anywhere, the sandwich at MSB is the best. That special fresh baked WDW choc chip cookie that they scrap fresh off the pan with the chips still gooey and the special WDW ice cream makes the sandwich!

The Tomorrowland Terrace will be opening for breakfast as the Main Street Bakery closes for conversion into the new Starbucks location at the Magic Kingdom. Menu items will include waffles, yogurt parfaits, egg/cheese and ham croissants, oatmeal, danish pastries, coffees and beignets. Cinnamon rolls can be found at Gaston's Tavern in the new Fantasyland. You can also grab a continental breakfast at Auntie Gravity's Galatic Goodies, Cheshire Cafe, Sleep Hollow, Sunshine Tree Terrace and Westward Ho.

The Main Street Bakery will close tomorrow, January 12, 2013, and is expected to reopen again on May 18, 2013.
