PostSubject: January at WDW?   Sat Nov 17, 2012 4:16 pm

I need to draw on the knowledge of my fellow WDW addicts! Very Happy

After listening to me tell everyone how great it is for the last few years one of my top employees and his wife are going to WDW and staying at CSR!

They will be there from Jan. 20th-31st.

While I consider myself quite knowledgeable on the topic of WDW vacations all of our trips have been at Christmas time. We have spent the last 2 at CSR from Dec. 14th-28th, with "free" Dining. Of course with the crowds at that time of year if you don't do your ADR's months in advance and have a little bit of a game plan for the parks you won't get your maxim enjoyment out of your time there.

I feel I am largely responsible for them choosing WDW and CSR for their vacation so I want them to have a fantastic time!

My concern is that they are booked with the FD package and at this point despite my encouragement have not made any RDR's and don't have a game plan of any kind. I see on the EasyWDW crowd calender that this is probably the lowest crowd levels of the year.

My queston is this: For those that have been to WDW during these low crowd times, is it so slow at these times (crowd level 2, I'm use to level 8-10) that they can get away with winging it? Or should I continue to express that WDW vacation require some advance planning?

When I was there two weeks ago, the crowd level was a 2 on EasyWDW and a 1 at MK on the day we went. We were able to book reservations for meals at the parks the day we arrive. Obviously, not for the popular places like Le Cellier or Crystal Palace but I was able to get Tony's at MK the morning we ate there and had many choices at Epcot. It is possible. They will just have to be flexible.

You may not get the prime times you want for meals, and may have to wait, but it is possible. They may have better luck doing lunches for ts meals. I'd have them at least get an idea of where they may want to eat at each park, so when they make plans for where they'll be each day, they can maybe call that morning and see about getting an adr.

Thats kind of what I figured. Thanks for the reassurance. Its hard for me to imagine the parks this slow from what we are used to. Will they be able to pretty much walk on rides? The slowest we ever saw was our first park day last year which was Dec. 15th, EasyWDW had it at crowd level 4 and Epcot as the slow park which we went to. It was completely dead, we had are run of the place. The only attractions with longer than a 10 min wait were Test Track, Soarin, and Sum of all Thrills.
