Disney is about to roll out the new 'Touch to Pay' system to a wide variety of locations from tomorrow.

The system was first tested back in August at the Contemporary. Now it is being rolled out to the following locations starting from 12/11/12. The new system allows guests to use their RFID 'Key to the World' card to just touch the Mickey head on the reader to make their payment. Purchases over $50 require a PIN number to be entered, which is set at check-in. Guests can also use the system to pay by credit card, but in this case it is swiped through the magnetic reader.

11 December 2012 'Touch-to-pay' locations:
Epcot
Disney's Art of Animation Resort
Disney's BoardWalk Resort
Disney's Contemporary Resort
Disney's Polynesian Resort
Disney's Yacht & Beach Resort

It is expected that the touch-to-pay system will be fully rolled out to all Walt Disney World registers by early 2013.

MyMagic+ 'Touch to Pay' has gone live at Downtown Disney locations today.

'Touch to Pay' allows guests to use their Key to the World resort ID to make payments by touching the card to the Mickey head RFID reader at each register. A PIN number set during checkin will be required for all purchases.

The vast majority of Walt Disney World is now using the new system, with just a few more locations remaining.

The final component of the NextGen MyMagic+ experience is set to begin testing in the parks late next week.

MagicBands will be given to a limited number of guests during a small trial period, where the full spectrum of MyMagic+ will be tested in real-world use for the first time. Wearing the MagicBands allows the guest to 'Touch to Enter' at the parks main entrance, 'Touch to Pay' at shops and quick service restaurants, touch for FASTPASS+ access to attractions, and 'Touch to Enter' room access. Test Track will become the first attraction where the MagicBands can be used as part of the experience, in place of the white cards that are currently used in the design studio.

The standard MagicBands are expected to be available in a range of colors, red, black, blue, green, pink, orange and yellow. Disney has also said that special designer MagicBands will be available at an additional cost.

It is expected that once this initial MagicBand test is complete, the rollout will continue in phases to a full deployment of MyMagic+ during the remainder of 2013.

Guests will be able to enter their rooms, the theme parks and water parks, access FastPass+ attractions and even choose to make payments with just the touch of a MagicBand.

The MagicBand will effortlessly connect Guests to all of the vacation choices that they make with My Disney Experience. Additionally, it will enable Cast Members to interact on a more personal level with Guests. Instead of taking tickets at the Main Entrance or FastPass+ merge point, Cast Members will be able to interact with our Guests as they simply touch their MagicBands to enter the park or access a FastPass+ experience.
