Walt Disney Company
Longtime Disney Imagineer Tony Baxter resigned from the company. The former Senior Vice President, Creative Development and 47 year Walt Disney Company veteran was the catalyst behind many attractions such as Splash Mountain, Thunder Mountain, Indiana Jones, as well as overseeing California Adventures’ largest expansion project, Cars Land. Mr. Baxter began his career with the Walt Disney Company scooping ice cream on Main Street in Disneyland and was seen as the last of a generation touched personally by Walt Disney.

The Disney Store is holding a promotion to experience New Fantasyland. A 4 night, 5 day vacation is the grand prize that includes a stay in the Castle Suite inside Cinderella Castle as well as a VIP tour. The winner will be selected on or about March 24.

Walt Disney World
The Goodyear Blimp will return to Walt Disney World during the taping of ABC’s Live With Kelly and Michael this week. The Goodyear Blimp has been used in the past to capture aerial footage of the Christmas Day Parade and during ESPN the Weekend. This will be the first time the blimp has been used in Walt Disney World in several years.

‘The Avengers’ Monorail wrap has been removed and the standard Monorail Red made its return to the fleet. The Marvel wrap captured attention and sparked controversy in 2012 as Marvel was not seen as “Disney” by some of the parks’ faithful. The wrapped Monorail could only be used on the resort line as entry into Epcot by a Marvel branded product would have violated Disney’s agreement with Universal Studios.

MyMagic+ is making its way throughout the entire Walt Disney World resort. A great number of turnstiles at each of the parks is now dedicated to

On Valentine’s Day, Disney selected fifty couples through a promotion from Disney Parks Blog to renew their wedding vows. The couples renewed their vows at the foot of Cinderella Castle with love songs playing and were accompanied by Cinderella, Aurora, Snow White, their three princes, as well as Mickey and Minnie Mouse.

A few significant menu changes were noticed recently at Walt Disney World. The Sci-Fi Dine-In Theatre at Disney’s Hollywood Studios underwent several changes, most notably the return of the barbecued ribs to the entree menu. ‘Ohana at Disney’s Polynesian Resort also saw several changes to its popular dinner offerings. The honey lime dressing has been replaced by a passion fruit dressing for the salad course. The broccoli and noodles course now offers a stir fry of vegetables with noodles adding mushrooms, onions, and peppers. The three dipping sauces that accompanied the meat course have been reduced to only the peanut sauce.

Magic Kingdom
The ‘Tangled’ themed restroom area in Fantasyland is set to open soon. The area is much more elaborate than just a restroom with elements of the enormously popular film such as Rapunzel’s tower to wow guests.

Registration opened for the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror 10-Miler to open Epcot’s International Food and Wine Festival. Due to the inaugural race’s success, registration for the race is expected to again be in high demand. The race is Disney’s only 10 mile event and will take place on the evening of October 5, 2013.

The next Limited Time Magic will honor Presidents Day at Epcot in the American Adventure Pavilion. The week long event will feature The Voices of Liberty performing in the American Gardens Theatre.

Epcot discontinued Segway tours. The ‘Around the World at Epcot’ was the last remaining Segway tour. Disney has been contacting guests with reservations to cancel the remaining reservations.

The Land of Oz opened at Epcot. The children’s playground is open daily from 11 AM to 6 PM. The Land of Oz is the first piece of the 2013 International Flower and Garden Festival to open. The area is based on the upcoming Disney film ‘Oz The Great and Powerful.

Hollywood Studios
The revamped Disney Junior Live on Stage debuted with ‘Doc McStuffins’ and ‘Sofia the First’ on February 15th. The new elements of the show joined the characters from ‘Mickey Mouse Clubhouse’ and ‘Jake and the Neverland Pirates’.

Walt Disney Pictures
The September 13th 3D release of ‘The Little Mermaid’ has been cancelled. There are two theories for the cancellation. One theory is that with the 25th anniversary of ‘The Little Mermaid’ approaching in 2014, the silver anniversary would be more appropriate for the re-release. The other theory for the cancellation is that each 3D re-release has been less successful than its predecessor. ‘The Lion King’ was the first film to receive 3D treatment in its re-release and was overwhelmingly successful. However, ‘Monsters Inc.’ re-release in 2012 was widely considered a disappointment considering the release of its prequel, ‘Monsters University’.

Albert Brooks, the voice of Marlin in Pixar’s ‘Finding Nemo’, officially agreed to reprise his role in the sequel to the 2003 hit. Fellow cast member, Ellen Degeneres and director, Andrew Stanton agreed to return for the sequel some time ago.

Disney Cruise Line
Disney Cruise Line announced new itineraries and ports for 2014. Sailings are Europe, Alaska, and for the first time, Southern Caribbean cruises from Puerto Rico. The Disney Magic will sail the Mediterranean and Greek Isles. The cruise line will depart from home ports in Venice, Italy and San Juan, Puerto Rico. There will be a new 9 night Mediterranean Greek Isles cruise, a new 7 night Southern Caribbean from San Juan, and 9 night Alaska cruise.
