PostSubject: Special Trip for Doc and the Mrs   Fri Jan 31, 2014 1:08 pm

Hey All

Since I will be married 20 years this February 5th and I am turning the BIG 50 in March the Mrs. asked what I wanted for the big day. I told her I wanted to combine Our Anniversary and my Birthday and do Star Wars Weekend. (God Bless her she has put up with me for 20 years and accepts my inner GEEK). The kicker was I wanted to go WITHOUT the kids. And she said it sounds great. Even the Kids said we deserve it.

At this point I have to thank My Dad and My sister who are staying with the kids to get them off to school and to their various functions.

So A short trip was booked Thursday June 5th to Sunday June 8th. And SOOOOOO Happy We are Staying at Coronado Springs once again. Even the wife's inner frugality didn't kick in. We have 2 days of park tickets and got the 1 sit down and 1 counter service meal plan.

So far the itinerary lines up like this:

Thursday June 5th we are taking Jet Blue down (I booked as soon as the time frame was available and got a good price. Newark was actually cheaper than Westchester this time.) We should get to Nado around 2pm. We will probably unpack and then make our way down to DTD. We are going to try Paradiso 37? Has anyone else ever eaten here. Going against our usual Planet Hollywood here. After Dinner and maybe a little shopping we may either hang out at some of the bars or come back to the pool for a while.

Friday is Hollywood Studios to get my Geek On!!!LOL Told the Mrs. I wanted to be there at rope drop. I may or May not dress up. Wayyyyyyy too hot in June to be in Jedi Robes...LOL We both bought Star Wars T shirts though. I have a blue T with 3 Storm trooper heads with See No Jedi Hear No Jedi Speak No Jedi.
She has one with a bunch of Storm troopers on a iron building beam eating lunch. Plan on a slow pace day and to just enjoy. Will definitely hit the Star Wars ride a few times as well as Toy Story Mania. Whatever we get to we get too. Our scheduled sit down is for a late lunch at SCI FI DINER. I really liked this place last time. The stupid movies unfortunately gave my son nightmares when he was like 6 and he still shudders when he goes by there at 13. LOL

Saturday is EPCOT...The wife and I just want a day to walk around the World Showcase and enjoy. Hit the little shops. Bakeries..BARS. Without searching for Kim Possible or now I think its Perry. We will go on Soarin of course and a few others. Dinner will be at San Angel Inn as the Mrs. stated she thinks she would regret not going there. We do both love Mexican food. I couldn't entice her into Canada....Oh Well. We will probably go back early and hang by the pool.

Sunday we have an early flight at 930 or something like that which means we will be taking the Magic Express at like 630...UGH.

I fully intend to take my Camera this trip.

Don't get me wrong I love my kids but I am soooo looking forward to spending time with my wife ALONE. Actual dinner conversation without interruption. What the heck will that be like?

Oh that sounds awesome Mike!

When my DW and did our first trip without my daughter, felt kinda funny at first but when we realized we were on our own schedule, to do what we wanted, eat at restaurants we wouldn't with kids, it turned out to be a very memorable trip for us.

Make sure its noted on your reservation what you are there to celebrate and also on your dining reservations. The manager at Tony's sang to us, they took our pictures everywhere, its fun. Lots of free desserts! Just make sure to wear your anniversary button.

Sounds liked a perfect trip for ya'll! So happy you're getting to go! Can't wait to hear what you think about a "no kids trip" and SWW. That will help me plan future trips for us.

Yeah Mario I think this trip is going to be very memorable. And truthfully it will be a test to see just how hot Disney is in Summer. I haven't been down there during the summer since 1977. Wondering if retirement plan would work. All the retirees I talk to down there love the perks of working for Disney. Win/Win. No State tax on my pension.

Food and Wine sounds great Mario. And I LOVE October/November in Disney. May have a favor to ask. I'll PM You later.

We went down there one summer in June to do the same thing, scope out the potential retire weather. Man was it how and the storms everyday around 5pm. DW decided it was for her. lol

Ahhhhhh My Favorite Flyer Fans............LOL. I am quietly not saying a word about how well they are playing, but extremely enjoying it while it lasts.

I can't wait to get to CSR. Our Anniversary Overnight on Tuesday was canceled due to the impending storm.

Hmmmm. Mrs. Hunter has given me an idea. I guess I can do a little introduction also.

Me: No I am not a Doctor as my screen name implies. Funny that when I book Disney over the phone they always ask me when they get to the email part. LOL. No I am an Ex-Landscaper turned Police Officer currently starting my 20th year. Rabid Steelers and NHL Rangers fan (Sorry Hunters). Avid toy and comic book collector Married 20 years to the most wonderful woman I have ever met (Just don't tell her I said that she will get a big head). My first trip to Disney was in 1977 with my grandmother and her brother. I am completely hooked on Disney now and have been able to go each year for the last 9 years thanks to a lot of Overtime and a wife who likes to go on a budget.

DW: The light of my life. Ex- Middle school teacher who decided her most important job was to be a stay at home Mom. (Which I totally agree with). She has been a Pre K 4 teacher at a private pre school here in town and served as its Director for 2years.  She is a garage sale aficionado and  Jazzercize junkie. She comes from a long line of Green Bay Packer fans but I don't hold that against her. Her first trip to Disney was 9 years ago and she is as hooked as I am now.

DD: Hmmmm my Disney Princess. Currently a Freshman in HS who sings Chorus. She has played Freshman Volleyball and will be trying out for Softball. Has Played for two Travel softball organizations and played in the USSSA nationals in Ocean City MD last year. National Honor Society student and outrageous STITCH fan. her interests are Film Directing, Video, and writing.

DS: The 13 year old who is currently eating me out of house and home and I think grew 3 inches in the last 2 weeks. Member the National Junior Honor Society. He is a track runner (Middle school cross country and local rec  track program) and travel soccer player who plays defensive midfield primarily. He is also thinking of taking up Pole vault as my wife's friends son is currently in college and has offered to help him out. He has stated he wants to be a pastry chef and has already made some kick-butt desserts. Avid POOH fan. Spends WAYYY too much time Killing Zombies on XBOX.

Well that's it for now.

Go Rangers!!!!!

All the Dining Reservations were made!!!!!We opted for a later dinner at DTD..paradiso37. They only had 530 and815 or later. So we opted for later. Since we get in at 235 and its about an hour on the magical Express, didn't want to run to the room, then the bus. This trip is all about taking it slow and enjoying ourselves. Can't wait for June.

As Murphy's Law would have it, mine died during this last big storm. Hopefully, we're done with snow.  surrender

SSSHHHHHHHH. I just couldn't help myself. Have kept telling the kids we can't afford to go to Disney during NJ Teachers convention in November. As soon as the flights on Jet Blue were extended I jumped. Its a shorter trip this time, but short trip is better than nothing. I don't plan on telling them until the night before.
Going Wednesday November 5 to Saturday November 8. Later flight leaving on the 8th too!

Haven't decided yet. Hoping for some kind of deal whether it be % off or free dining. I really have overextended myself this year. Between my Star Wars Weekend with the Mrs. Summer Nationals softball in Myrtle Beach, and now this....Thankful they finally settled our contract and should get a decent retro check. That and some serious extra duty assignments I should be OK. I will definitely let you know though. We have 530 flight out so the Magic Express will probably want us to leave at 3-330.

No Sydney no extra plans other than setting up the fast pass on the Magic Bands. We just want to relax. Looking forward to just geeking out at Disney Studios for some Jedi fun and a nice relaxing day at EPCOT.

Right now trying to concentrate on the big hockey playoffs....Of course Mrs Hunter and I have to go toe to toe first round. Of all my luck.

Got my Magical express/voucher book yesterday and an email today stating the magic bands are on their way.

Of course free dining was offered in the fall BUT.........as always the week I am there is blacked out. No Luck at all here.

Kids still don't know. Surprise surprise they both said if they were to go on a short trip again they would want to do EPCOT instead of MK or DS. That is a shocker to me. Lets see what they pick when they find out they are going.

Oh and surprising the wife as CHEAPO wants to just do Pop Century and save the cash........Looking at Riverside now. CSR said no rooms available during that time.

Mario...as we get closer we will figure out someway to meet up!!!
