PostSubject: bus times-a question   Mon Feb 10, 2014 4:36 pm

we stayed at coronado back in september of 2011. we loved the resort. it is actually my favorite mod as far as rooms, pool, cast members etc. we had horrible luck with our busses. usually in the morning our waits to go to the parks were anywhere from 45 to 65 minutes (we timed it). we were we were at the casitas bus stop ususally between 7:30-7:45. we are planning on going back to coronado this coming september but a few of my family members are concerned about the long waits at the bus stop. is it better to go to the stop by the main lobby? any pointers would be appreciated.

I can only share my experiences with the buses at CSR. In all my trips there, over 15, I can't count on one hand the times I've waited that long for a park bus. CSR is usually spoke of as having great service.

Bus stop one does have a CM there asking where you are going and always on the radio getting needed buses.

I have to agree with Buzz. We have stayed at CSR for 3 lengthy stay totalling 34 nights. We fly in and don't rent a car, so use Disney transportation for everything. I think I can remember one time where we had to wait for a bus past the 30 min mark. Bus service has been so good for us I've found it almost impossible to justify spending more money on a Deluxe resort with a premium location. I spend a fair amount of time on another Disney forum and CSR is generally considered to have the most consistently good bus service on WDW property. It's central location help with short travel times as well.

We stayed in the Business Class section this past December (Cabanas 9B) so we used Busstop 1 at the main building because it was so close. It's the last stop to pick up. We had no issues at all. I would probably rate this trip as the worst luck for buses of the 3 trips and we still never waited longer than 15 mins, usually 8-10 mins and I only stood twice in 12 days of using the buses. We were spoiled the the previous trip Dec. 2011 we were in Casitas 4 and used stop 2. We never waited for a bus the whole 14 day trip. It seemed like our bus came just as we walked up to the stop every time.

I can't explain the experience you had, there had to be something wrong that week. I would give it another try and not worry about the buses!  Very Happy

I wonder if it was just the time of year or just an unlucky bad week? On our Oct. and Nov. trips we didn't wait more than 10 minutes- we used the main stop, Ranchos, and Cabanas stops. We drive and have our vehicle that we've always driven around at WDW, but on our first trip to CSR DH had to use a scooter since he'd had ankle surgery. Trying to get the scooter in and out of the vehicle was a bit tough the first day so we decided to try the bus. We were so pleased with the service that we really don't drive once we're down there anymore. And I have to say that DH is the type that likes to drive normally, but now when we're on vacation he can just relax and leave the transportation up to them! Hope you have a great experience on your trip!

Possibly some staffing issues that week?

I can only comment on one time of year because all 4 of our WDW trips have been in December, but the dates we have gone typically run into the crazy Christmas crowds and it doesn't get any busier than that. Our last trip was Dec. 12th-24th. Crowds were quite pleasant unitl about the 21st you could feel the crowds rolling in. I didn't see any noticable difference in the bus service itself other than some were more crowded than earlier in the week.

In 2011 we were there Dec. 14th-28th, so we stayed right into the busiest crowds of the year. Again as stated previously we had incredible bus service that trip.

I know this OP stated they timed the waits so it's hard to dispute that if it's true. However I have on numerous occasions over heard people complaining that they had been waiting for 1/2 hour and I'd look at the actual time and they had been standing there for about 8 mins....lol. It's actually quite common to see that. My wife is one of those people, so this last trip I timed every wait and as soon as she started to complain I would let her know it had only been 4 mins!! By the end of the trip she stopped complaining!
