PostSubject: Concerns about CSR   Thu Apr 10, 2014 9:14 am

The GF and I are Disney regulars. We have been each year for the past 4 years and I have been to Disney over 50 times in my lifetime.

We normally use dvc points to stay in a deluxe resort. However that was not an option for this's trip because we waited too long to book and there simply weren't any rooms available. So we started looking for a hotel to stay at and eventually settled on CSR. The business class king seemed like a reasonable option because of the club room service. It is always nice to have that free breakfast in the mourning and a beer at night after a very long day at the park is always a nice perk.

However, after booking the room, I decided to do a little research on CSR because it is literally the only Disney property I have never stayed at. I realized it was a conference center and that there will be a conference in town the weekend I am staying at the hotel. I have also read plenty of not so great reviews on various websites. My question is this. Will CSR give me the typical immersive Disney experience? Will I notice a huge drop off between Coronado springs and a hotel like animal kingdom lodge where we usually stay? Will the THREE conventions in town during the duration of my stay have a major impact on the quality of my experience?

It's obvious the person who runs this site is extremely fond of CSR, and I'm sure it provides a great atmosphere for conferences, but this is our yearly trip to celebrate my GF's birthday as well as the conclusion of an extremely busy 6 month period in our work schedules and I really wouldn't want the experience tarnished by a hotel experience that feels lacking because the staff is more concerned about the convention in town.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated

 welcome #2

I will be hard for anyone to answer your question because everyone's idea of being immersed in the Disney experience is different. If you've stayed at mostly deluxe resorts, then I'm sure you stayed at one with a convention. GF, Y&BC, BW, Contemporary and the Swan & Dolphin are all convention resorts.

CSR is a large resort so even at capacity you do not get the feeling over being overcrowded except for maybe the dining locations at traditional meal times.

The business class rooms are in cabana 9b so you have a great location. Close to the main building, pool and bus stops.

I hope you have a great trip!

Are the business class rooms recently renovated? What I meant by Disney immersion is that the staff is legendary for being extremely helpful and ready to solve any problem that may occur immediately. My concern is that with 3 conventions in town (one of them involving people with disabilities) will the experience suffer because the staff is being torn in every direction by the convention guests

The CSR rooms were rehabbed in early 2010.

As for CM's, That is why I tell guests to find a CM who has a brass pin near the top of their Disney badge. Those are cast members who have been recognized for seniority or other accomplishments.

The three conventions could end up being small. The ones you want to avoid are Grainger and the FL Elks.

In my opinion, CSR is an ideal reosrt. We've felt completely immersed during our two trips, have had excellent service and food, and wouldn't hesitate to return. Conventions have never bothered us. We stayed at AKL on our last trip and loved it, but we enjoyed CSR just as much. DH and I have been with our two pre-teen and teen boys, who also were blown away, but we keep talking about how romantic it would be to go just the two of us. So I bet you two would enjoy staying there as a couple. I'm not preferencial and I've visited almost every resort so I know that every resort is not for everyone. Let me know if you have any specific questions- hope I can help.

I must second that!. We stayed there for 3 weeks a while back and felt totally immersed in Disney! Conventions came and went and we noticed them hardly at all, there were a lot of accountants for a few days and they looked really odd in suits and ties at all hours - but they turned out to be harmless  Smile

We'd go back any time with no hesitation
