Interesting!

I haven't received anything like that for our December reservation.

Any idea if they are still starting with casitas 4?

Could be, today they just added a big fenced area in the parking lot near bus stop #2. Look like for storing materials

I got an email yesterday from the General Manager of CSR explaining the upcoming resort refurbishment that will be taking place during our December stay.

Looks like it's a go!!

So glad I found this forum, we are booked to stay at CSR end of June start of July 2017. I booked through Thomson and wasn't told about Refurb, I only noticed after looking on WDW page for more info on resort and was really worried as I changed our booking from staying at B resort Walt Disney which looks fab to onsite as we are travelling with our 11 yr old who has stayed offsite once before and our 2 year old first trip we also got the qsddp. Anyway I emailed WDW and TBH were not helpful, very blunt and was told "This November, some Guest rooms will be undergoing resort refurbishment projects. As you will be coming in 2017, this should not impact you." I asked what area so I could try request refurbished room but told they could not promise certain areas/rooms.

Will be keeping an eye on progress what's the chances of refurb being well under way by June?

Thanks for info

welcome to the forum!

They will only close one building at a time so it will not impact your stay. They do a great job keeping the work behind fences.

To begin 11/14/16...

The new rooms are doing away with some of the room furniture (armoire, chair and desk). A gray upholstered chair is in the corner. Opposite the bed(s), a long furniture piece will house the drawers, USB ports and glass front fridge (like a wine cooler). A 50" flat screen will be on the wall above the counter. A Kuerig coffee pot will replace the current version. There is also some shelfs. The ceiling fan may have gotten a reprieve. Yeah! So many redesigns of these new rooms it's tough to keep up.

Also new is no more carpets, instead they'll have faux hardwood floors. The mattress will be a memory foam, no more box springs (not sure I like this or if it was just for test rooms).

The bathroom is completely different. CSR will now have two sinks (counter space still available) and a medicine type cabinet next to the sinks, a new enclosed closet, new H2O products, and will have a walk in shower in some king rooms (casitas) and the rest of the rooms will have a small tub version.

The color scheme is lighter and brighter too, the sliding doors have a metallic look and there is Disney artwork on the walls.

The order will be ranchos, cabanas and then casitas

Big resort changes coming soon for business class, the lobby and more.

PostSubject: Expansion Rumor   Sat Nov 05, 2016 8:24 pm

Have you heard a rumor about Disney possibly expanding Coronado Springs and if it's for Vacation Club or something else.

Sounds like the new rooms will be awesome. I guess I will have to hope the possible expansion will be able to sleep 5.

What I heard is the convention space is going to be redone to accommodate the closing of the Contemporary convention space shutting its doors. And that cabana 9b will end by year end and the fate of the building is that it will be demolished. Not DVC so maybe family suites??

PostSubject: My Glass Slipper   Fri Nov 11, 2016 10:59 am

Here is to hoping for a room that sleeps 5 in one way or another. If it is a family type suite, hopefully they don't price it the way beyond what I can afford. This is our favorite resort. I have heard others say it is too big, but I feel it is just right. It is my glass slipper.

The furniture has arrived and the work should be ramping up by weeks end.

Hi, thanks for all this great info!

I am planning a trip for the 1st week of June 2017....first Disney trip woo hoo!!!!

Coronado Springs is our top choice after researching, but the refurb has me nervous. Do you think it would put a damper on our stay at the beginning of June?

Thanks again!

welcome to the CSR Forum!

Disney knows how to handle rehabs and its not their first rodeo. They know how to handle the closing of the buildings and completely surround the building being worked on with a fence to limit the noise and exposure.

I've stayed at CSR during the first two rehabs and had no issues.

The parking area behind rancho 7a is fenced and is housing all the materials for the rehab. Also, a fence is up surrounding cabana 9b.

I hope they don't change the lobby too much. I think it is really beautiful. The room renovations, while they look nice and contemporary, I don't feel really fit the theming of the resort. The rooms don't look like Coronado mexican feel anymore. I hope they don't take that feel away from the lobby too. I liked the relaxed look to the room before. Also, the new bathroom doors are strange looking, in that gray color, they look like dungeon doors! I am surprised they put shower doors on the showers as well. Won't that be harder to keep clean rather than just ripping out and replacing old shower curtains?

Do you know how long it takes them to do one building, typically?

Approx two to three months depending on the number of floors
