Can not believe that I didn't start this thread w/ our dining plans---those will be added shortly, but for now, here's who were leaving behind, aside from two very cute and stinky gerblypoos.... Last June, our 13 year old dog, a black and tan doxie (our first baby) had to be put down. It was traumatic and could NOT have come at a worse time w/ son's condition, so DS's art teacher rescued and delivered a puppy to him---it was the BEST medicine he received last year!! He named the puppy, Artemus, or Artie for short (art, get it?) and he and Scout (long-haired 11 y.o.) soon became great buddies! Here they are!
Very cute!

It's snowing again but not really sticking to the ground. I wish the Disney stores went back to the way they used to be. I was there all the time. Not that my DD is 16, there is nothing sold there to pull me in.

Snow? Brrrr! As much as I am ready for warmer weather, we NEVER usually get snow even if all surrounding areas get it! We once had a school snow day off b/c of the mere THREAT of snow (and it never did snow then--- :lmao2: they said it snowed in the atmosphere but didn't make it down to the ground---which turned my son into a cynic-- ! Anyhoo, our neighborhood had such a blast in the big "blizzard" aka 1/2 foot of snow----I'd hate for the kids to be driving by the time they can sled again in our backyard. So I secretyl wish for one more snow storm for us! (Shhhhh!!!) this was one video Dh took in our backyard at teh start of the "blizzard." Not sure if this wil work out---but am trying it out...

You should be getting a snow today. Ours started a few hours south of you on my way into work in Durham, NC.

Rolling Eyes I could probably call this whole thread My Off Topic Pretrip Report, Buzz!! But since you asked, 2 months, 2 weeks, 3 days!!! Yeehaw! Wow, the days are starting to go by more quickly now. Have NOT told DS yet about our trip. He'll turn 11 this Tues. and I am thinking about surprising him then---although, when we go it will actually be over my birthday---not sure how well this will sit w/ him. Have always wanted to try surprising him the day of the trip, but I may be too giddy with excitement to keep it in that long....not sure which we'll end up doing Question Question Question

Changing the topic <ahem!> , Am planning out our meals and wanted to share where we've already dined in the World...pssst, I am a bit of a foody!

In '03, we had a wonderful $79 a night deal right after Animal Kingdom Lodge opened! But it was still tough on us financially, so we basically ate poptarts which we'd packed and cheeseburgers and fries our entire trip (blew up like ticks by the 4th day!) Since then, we've had the pleasure of enjoying so many wonderful WDW meals (will try to post pics soon) and have been on the dining plan a few times (not this upcoming trip, however).

Here's an incomplete list of places we've eaten in the World: This Post---Magic Kingdom, Contemporary, and Grand Floridian

Crystal Palace
character meal x2---really liked the buffet and adorable characters although DS is too "grown up" for them now <boo hoo>
Chef Mickey dinner x3 Love the buffet, characters and towel twirling
Cinderella's Royal Table during Year of A Million Dreams---best dessert EVER there served in a chocolate slipper--I still dream about it
Columbia Habour House-a MUST DO every trip---awsome citrus salad a fav of mine and also my fav b/c we always find a secluded spot upstairs which is great for people watching and taking in all of the excitement
Liberty Tree Tavern (when they had character there)---loved every bit of food, and I recall delish strawberry salad and flavored butter for the rolls that was so good I think dabbed it on behind my ears as my perfume---arh arh
Pinnochio Village Haus---w/ great view of iaswaa
Wishes Dessert Party at Tomorrowland Terrace----outrageous choc covered strawberries---yummmm and Tink waved to ME as she flew DIRECTLY over my head!
Cosmic Rays Starlight Cafe x 2
El Pirata y el Perico Restaurant---blech
Other places there---the Dole Whip stand---now a MUST DO every trip
The Cool Ship and Enchanted Grove

Don't tell him about the trip. Hold it in until the morning you are leaving. My daughter says she is going to WDW every day. She has no clue we are going. She has no concept of time and we have told her we are going in October. Next Saturday, I will be waking her up right around 5AM. I will tell her to get up if she wants to go to Disney World or stay in bed if she wants to stay home with mommy. She will be out of the bed and sliding down the stairs in a flash. Mommy gets to join us 4 days later. Our flight is at 7:30AM. We will head to the airport about 5:30AM and be eating a Cinnabun by 6:30AM. Hopefully, we will be walking into CSR around 10:00 - 10:30AM, at AK by 11:30AM, and eating LTT right away.

We'd LOVE to return to Narcoosee's, but since we are using the $500 WDW GC this upcoming trip and planning to apply this $ to our FOOD expenses, it could "eat up" so to speak our budget in about one meal there; so instead, I've planned for us to arrive there for desserts ONLY and to watch Wishes from their balcony on our first night.

I like this pic---it never rained on us!------we did see lightning across the way near the new construction of the Cont. and by the way, we were late to arrive for this dinner because they were training new conductors for the monorial that afternoon, so our monorail stopped for a half and hour (!?!) just outside of the Poly but it was kismet b/c we had a great view across the lake...it DID rain while our monorail was stopped then, until a rainbow came out--as if to give us our own special show---it was so amazingly and breathtakingly beautiful.

On a sad not, my SIL's mother passed away on Monday (she lived in NY) and the weather is so so so bad that she is not going to be able to attend the funeral. :( This weather is UNREAL. I hope you are staying warm and thinking about sunny Fla!

I almost canceled my ressie for CSR. Almost rented points from someone for DVC. No rooms for DVC at AKV. We'll see. If I can, I will save a couple hundred dollars, but not likely. I will be at CSR at least the first 3 nights.

I've always thought about DVC rentals, too. Glad you can do both possibly!

Plannig an impromptu bday party at a local pizza joint for DS! It'll be very pre-pre-teen! Usually I have this sort of thing planned many months in advance---last year DS too ill to even eat cake or celebrate <wah!>---this year we're going to surprise him w/ a few hours of snowboarding lessons!!!

More dining experiences and our plan for dinign in May coming up soon...I have to say, our all time fav may have been HDDR!!! My kind of humor!!! We've been there twice. Was DS's first experience eating ribs! Also, he was spotlighted as "Tarzan" our first time there. Check out the look in DS' eyes---he loves him some ribs!!!

Its a no go for the DVC rental. We thought about a split stay: 4 nights at CSR and 4 nights at AKV. There is simply no DVC availability for our stay. Oh well. Maybe on our trip on October.

Thanks so much, Buzz, he said it was the best birthday EVER! (AhhH!) And that's without telling him about our upcoming Disney trip!

Back to FOOOOOOODDDDaaaaahhhhhhhh: Other places we've eaten in the World:

Wilderness Lodge: Whispering Canyon Cafe---oh what FUN! "Sippin' Sticks" and "Yeehaw---Look at this family, ya'll. They're gonna PIG OUT today." Had my favorite CM (that's not a Disney character, that is!)---she was soooo into her role and a real laugh riot!!!!! BUT, WCC left DS crying out of embarrassment---he had to leave the restaurant four times w/ me to sit and cry w/ me hugging and rocking him next to the indoor stream of WL.... The humor was totally lost on him, which made us, his parents roar even louder w/ laughter when he wasn't looking---we still look back and he'll talk about this as his MOST HUMILIATING expereince in his entire life. I thought it was a great life lesson about how to learn to laugh at yourself---DS says it could be a therapy session one day for him!!! Still, I submit that one day he will take his children there!

DHS: Have eaten at about all quick stop places here, some notables: Sci Fi Dine in - twice (great CM's---neat atmosphere, very good food---tempted to go again!); ABC Commisary---I WARNED DH, but we had to eat breakfast there one year, or try to at least---rates as our worst dining experience in Florida and possibly ANYWHERE---dirty, rubbery, inedible, too greasy, chewy---yeash!; Pizza Planet x2---cute theming, good food, but a busy, busy place---DS likes the games there. 50's Prime Time Cafe---we were walk ups and waited five minutes for a table...I had meatloaf---CM w/ airplanes noises made me eat my remaining veggies and made Choo Choo train noises to make DS finish his--meal. Would like to eat there again next trip, BUT this is DS's second most humiliating experience in his life.... Wink

Just came across this from our big "blizzard" last month. It snowed this week but kids still had school, and as DS reasoned, WHY have SNOW if you have to GO to school?! We're going to try out snowboarding for DS's bday soon. Ummm, maybe I should sit that out and sip hot cocoa near a fire instead!
