PostSubject: Transport query   Fri Feb 26, 2010 3:22 pm

This is my first time visiting Orlando without renting a car... I'm really looking forward to letting Disney do the driving.

I am not sure how the transportation works, for example if I need to get from CSR to Grand Floridian do I take a bus to MK and then take a bus from MK to Grand Floridian?

Or do buses come and directly shuttle you from hotel to hotel? Or is there an easier/quicker way of doing it.

Another question as well, I am considering spending 1 day out of Disney for my holiday and have read about the Car care centre. Do I have to prebook a car in advance or is it possible to decide on the day if I need a car.

thanks

If you need to get to a monorail resort, you can take a bus to MK and then hop on the monorail for all the resorts or walk to the Cont. if you're up to it.

If you need to get to a Epcot area resort, its best to go to DHS and then hop on a friendship boat that goes to the Swan/Dolphin, Boardwalk and Y&BC. Give yourself an hour in travel time.

You can also use taxi's from CSR to all the resorts. Much quicker and not that expensive.

If you want to rent a car from Alamo, you can check at the front desk. Look for John or Lisa at concierge. Alamo will come and pick you up at the resort.

You could also take a public transit bus from the TTC to locations off WDW.

sorry for being dumb, TTC, is this the ticket and transportation centres at the front of the parks?

Instead of a car I was also considering a taxi as the idea of driving isn't something I will really want to do what I worry about is how I will get back to csr from somewhere universal. Are there reliable taxi ranks outside of these parks where taxis will be waiting or would i have to prebook a taxi?

TTC is the Ticket and Transportation Center located near Magic Kingdom. If you look at a map of Walt Disney World, that's where the resort monorail meets up with the Epcot monorail and where the boats from MK drop guests off (its the parking lot for Magic Kingdom too).

For a taxi to get around to other WDW resorts, they are always parked out front at CSR and the bellmen will get one for you.

To go to Universal, you could use Mears, or another similar service.

In general, use the following as a guide assuming time is not an issue. If time is an issue, use a taxi.

Resort to Resort: Take bus to closest park, hop bus/boat/Monorail to the other resort
Resort to Park: Take the appropriate bus
Park to Park: MK and Epcot are easy, hop the Monorails. Epcot and DHS can go by boat. For any other park, go to TTC or closest resort and hop a new bus.

Just got another quick question...

Do you know if there is a direct bus from Coronado to downtown disney, it appears that there is on the disney website but when i look at other sources it says you have to make a transfer.

Yes, there is a direct bus to DtD from CSR. I believe that during the day it picks up guests from Typhoon Lagoon on the return.

This is a great forum Buzz!! We are going to CRS next month for a week - I am all over this site! Thank you

Question related to this thread - if we need to get to a monorail resort like Poly, what is the closest park to take the bus to from CRS? It appears to be AK, but that wouldn't work would it? DHS and take the boat?

Tink

I would just take the bus to MK and the go up the ramp to the monorail. What time of day are you trying to get to the Poly?

ps - welcome to the CSR Forums!

Thanks Buzz! What I am toying with is this - we arrive @ MCO at 2:30 and hoping to be in our room by 4pm. We have an ADR at Whispering Canyon Cafe for 6:50. What time would we need to leave CSR to make it? If it's too rushed, then we'll just hang at Pool/Laguna bar and then possibly Poly beach for fireworks. Would time would we need to leave CSR to do that - thanks to your last post we'd take the bus to MK and hop on the monorail...

To go to WL, you should leave CSR by 5:50pm the latest. Take whatever park bus arrives first (preferably DHS, EPCOT or MK) and then switch to a WL bus. If you would like to ride on a boat to WL, take a bus to MK and then hop on the boat to WL. Either way, you should give yourself a minimum of 1 hour of travel time.
