PostSubject: If you had to choose..   Wed Apr 28, 2010 7:11 pm

I need to get to finishing my ADR's in anticipation of a free dining announcement hopefully coming next week! Just had a question-if you had to choose between Rainforest and Planet Hollywood (keep in mind a 13 yr old and a 10 yr old), which would you choose? Also, would Prime Time be worth it? I think I have said before, but we are reserved right now at Rainforest (change it?), Teppan Edo, and Le Celliers...All opinions are greatly appreciated!

50's Prime Time is my pick, esp w/ Free Dining. Both Rainforests at Disney are very, very cute, but pretty bustling and is not Disney owned (to get a "free" Rainforest "experience," you can always opt to walk through the Animal Kingdom's Rainforest gift shop to get an idea of the place and see moving animals PLUS (and this is a big plus) you can go all of the way through the gift shop and enter via the little known AK entrance! Have read mixed review of PH---we are going there only b/c we've already been to so many other restaurants and to save $ by using the WDW coupons---but if I had FREE dining, instead of teh $500 WDW Gift Cert we're using, I'd choose 50's PT (have you been to Chip N Dale's Harvest Feast Garden Grill? It wold be a free dining w/ Chracter meal and is usually more sedate thatn other charcter meals and the revolving restaurant is so neat....

DS at "secret entrance to AK."

No, August will be our first trip! I do so much research that I know so many of the restaurants by name, but love input on how they are..If we do get free dining, I heard that Rainforest is not on the plan, we would have to get that one ourselves-I guess that's part of why I was wondering..I have never heard of the restaurant you just suggested that is a character place...I'll have to check it out!

If I could do it all over again as a First Times visitor but w/ Free Dining,
I'd try for the following:

Hoop Dee Doo Review (takes up 2 TS's but so worthwhile - you'll love the experience!)
Le Cellier (which you have, right), then ANY character meals - Chef Mickey, Garden Grill, Cinderella's, or at AK....

We usually pick Planet Hollywood because we have a Rainforest locally. We always had good meals at PH. There is a lot to check out as far as movie memorabilia goes. But kids 10 & 13 may enjoy Rainforest more. You also may want to look into the ESPN Zone. I love it there and it is very similar.

Our family eats at Prime Time every trip. If you like buffets, you enjoy Prime Time.

Le Cellier is our all time favorite. The best meal we ever had at WDW was there.

Like Buzz we do have a Rainforest locally. We always hit PH. That is our Downtown day so we can do PH, the pool and Pin Trade like little demons PH is pretty busy at times and when it is busy between the people and the MUSIC it's loud. If you are looking for quiet experience maybe RFC is better.

50's Prime Time Cafe is a fun time...just make sure you are not wearing a hat at the table or have your elbows on them either. "Auntie (your server) stays in character and is Veerrry serious about manners. Food is good though and you MUST eat all your veggies or you get the plane or choo choo. UNBELIEVABLE

Are you excited or what?? This is the first time we used the dining plan an it was convenient for us. Le Cellier is one of our all-time favorites if you can get a reservation. We were there in January without one and decided to eat early. Went about 4pm and no problem. All our kids have always enjoy this. DS21, DD17, DS14 now. Walked into T-Rex was a visual. Owned by same people as Rainforest, so I assume same food. DH does not like the food at Rainforest, but I like the visual. People enjoy WCC at WL where sometimes the waiters engage the guests. We didn't care for it, but some kids sure did. There is a nice buffett as Ft. Wilderness, where you can watch the electric water parade afterward. I think they even have horse carriage rides too. Teppan Edo was wonderful. My kids loved it. The Hollywood Brown Derby is my favorite and the food is excellent--think LeCellier. Another thing to try someday is the Kitchen Sink at Beaches and Cream (Lunch). Definitely ice cream extravaganza. High on the kid list. Feeds 5 plus. I think Ghiradelli's does something similar. My kids love House of Blues, but not sure if on the dining plan.

Have fun whatever you decide.

Oh thanks for the info on restaurants! The ice cream place would be a huge hit for our kids-well DH is like a kid when it comes to ice cream..me, not so much-but that's a good thing! So far we have reservations for Teppan Edo (for DD,13-she LOVES anything dealing with Japan), Rainforest, and Le Cellier, which is a surprise for the hubby-I am very excited about that one! Thanks for all the advice, I love getting info like this..

In addition, check out the disboards for pictures. I think I found the kitchen sink by chance one day and then saw the picture. Wow, knew we had to try it. At that point, we were on the DDP though. Go hungry, be prepared to wait. At the Beach Club.

yummy!!

Kitchen Sink - come hungry!!

Beaches & Cream Soda Shop, located at Disney’s Beach Club Resort near Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, serves a variety of sandwiches, salads, soups, appetizers and, most important, ice cream creations. At $21.99, they have their own version of the the kitchen sink sundae called “The Famous” Kitchen Sink, which has scoops of vanilla, chocolate, strawberry, coffee and mint chocolate-chip ice cream covered with all the toppings available in the shop and an entire can of whipped cream. Intended to serve four people, this sundae is a popular choice when celebrating a birthday or special occasion at the resort, but be warned: Once it’s ordered, you will become the center of attention while eating it.

I could walk by this dessert on the hungriest of days and it probably wouldn't appeal to me..However if there was a piece of key lime pie around....This kitchen sink cracks me up-my DH and DD would love it

We do FD almost every year since its been out, we normally get it by booking the bounce back offers we get..

Le Cellier is a must and such a great deal on DDP

Ohana is also a steal

Nine Dragons is amazing as well as Mama Melrose and Biergarten

Now I would do Trex instead of RFC we have done both twice each and we felt Trex has better food even tho they are owned by same company.
