PostSubject: Parking   Wed May 05, 2010 11:29 am

I just talked with someone that I just met-we were talking about Disney of course, the only subject of interest on my mind..Anyway, she found out that we booked our trip through AAA and said that we should not really worry about using the shuttle buses to get around because we will have diamond parking. If this is true, we wouldn't have to worry so much with being near a bus stop at CSR I guess? I wanted more opinions on this. Also as a side note, do most of you prefer booking through a travel agent or doing it yourself? In getting the free dining plan we have lost every bit of our AAA discount which makes me think that I could have just done this myself to begin with...Always appreciate everyone's input!

Diamond parking pass lets you park up front in the parking lots but there are only so many of them available and they are not guaranteed. They sell those passes on eBay as well.

As for going to MK, the bus drops you off at the park entrance while driving means you have to go to the TTC and take the monorail.

Quote :
Guests who purchase certain vacation packages through the American Automobile Association are given a special "Diamond" parking card. Showing this card at the tollbooths and to the Cast Members stationed in the lots directing parking traffic will allow AAA package guests access to special AAA parking areas if capacity allows. Each park's AAA areas are handled differently, so guests will be directed to park according to that park's policy.

As Buzz indicated, parking is limited for the "Diamond Parking" so you'd have to be there early.
We drive to all of the parks, even MK. But we go first thing in the morning so we are always clsoe to the entrance anyway and don't have to wait for the tram to get us there (and at the MK, we are there so early that we park the car, walk to the TTC and get on the monorail).

I've done both ways -- with and without a TA. It depends on my "mood" that year. The TA I've used in the past has been absolutely wonderful and always watches for discounts (even after we've made orioginal reservations), does my ADR's and changes them whenever I want/need them, etc.

When I was there the Diamond Parking was full most of time. I didn't use AAA to book this trip. I found that they were not reliability in getting back to me. We just did main parking and took the parking tram or just took the bus from CSR to the parks

Ever since I booked with AAA I have heard nothing but negative comments about their travel planning..This is, I could have done all of this myself-my travel agent, although very nice, has not given me any info-I have told her everything. And I think the fact that I lost every penny of my AAA discount on our trip to get free dining made me think this-I could have just booked through Disney directly and done the same things..Anyway, you live and learn. We are going at the end of August, so hopefully we will be able to use the parking because the crowds might not be so bad at that time of year..

Not saying their is anything wrong with AAA. The place by my house was not returning my calls about so I just booked through Disney. I used a PIN offer so my price would have been the same. I would have liked to use that parking pass on this trip. I used the pass 3 years ago in February and it was great.

Another thing is if any changes happen you need to go to AAA with can be a pain if you in a hurry for something. 3 years ago we got their 1 day early and had to check in 2 times because they couldn't change AAA's reservation

One tip... From CSR to Magic Kingdom you should just take the Bus you don't park their anyways and you will need to take the monorail to the park form the parking lot. All the other parks you can drive it direct
