For those going this week, be prepared for rain.

Florida has their first Tropical Storm of the hurricane season. Ana has formed in the tropical Atlantic Ocean, reports the National Hurricane Center.

Tropical Storm Ana is moving west near 16 miles per hour and is 2,362 miles east southeast of Miami, according to the 5 a.m. advisory. Ana is expected to approach the Leeward Islands on Monday. Maximum winds are near 40 mph and storm force winds extend up to 70 miles from the center.

There is another likely tropical depression forming 475 miles west southwest of Cape Verde.

On the plus side, it's only a Tropical Storm (i.e. not a Hurricane!) which means low crowds at the parks...

...I think that makes me a true Disney Freak.

When will they close the parks due to tropical storms or hurricanes? Does the insurance cover this? Do you know if insurance can be added to your MYW plan? This is just making me think.

It also looks like it is going to the South; but there will still be rain....

Disney will close the parks at any time that it seems necessary to protect the guests. Rule number one is to insure the safety of our guests.

We were in Disney during the last hurricane back in late August/early September 2004. We stayed at Caribbean Beach and had to stay in our room for 2 days during the hurricane. We had a rental car and picked up food and drinks, however back in 2004, Disney did not have refrigerators in the room as a standard, so we only bought non-perishable items.

The lucky part was that days before the hurricane, all parks were virtually empty (including other non-Disney parks.) and we went on every single ride without a line. The hurricane (forget the name of it) had scared everyone away. We had already finished our vacation and had a flight to leave Orlando two days before the hurricane actually hit. But, all airlines had taken their planes out of Orlando during the two days and we were stranded at Disney. Not that we didn't want to be stranded at Disney, but we had to stay in our room for the entire time. The restaurants in the resorts were also closed the day before the hurricane (for employee's safety) and there were no ÇMs around.

We also had to pay the extra 2 nights to stay in our room, which I was grateful for, because we had no place to go. Then when the hurricane finally left (and it took its sweet time to leave too) all the flights were booked and they didn't give any priorities to who had flights first that were originally scheduled to leave first (did that make sense?) The airline carrier had only available seats 3 days away. Husband had to go to work and the kids had to start school. So, we booked a mini-van and drove all the way to New York Suspect .

Anyway, we are going back to Disney during the same time we had in 2004 (we didn't learn from out lesson Very Happy ) Took the insurance this time and hoping that the hurricane will keep away from Orlando and scare everyone not to vacation during those times. sunny
