Ok wanted to know what everyone thought about this one:::::: I already have reservations at CRT for lunch. I am very excited but DH and kids are like oh sure mom we'll go, but not too much enthusiasm....If you had to choose, would you pick CRT or the Ohana Dinner and show????? I would have to pick one or the other, both places use 2 dining credits per person....Thanks in advance!

Since you are already doing CRT, I would go with the Luau. Just wondering, have you considered trying Hoop Dee Doo? It is a lot of fun, and the food is classic American...pretty good. Plus, beer and sangria are included in the price!!!

To clarify - are you talking the luau or dinner at O'hana?

We love dinner at O'hana it's a must everytime. But we have not done the luau...yet. We've also eaten in the castle - something I think everyone should definately experience at least once.

Between O'hana and CRT - I'd have to go with O'hana. (but I've already been inside the castle.)

Oh Kathiep, I thought that dinner at Ohana and the luau were the same thing..I was thinking about the luau though. Am I correct that the luau would be 2 dinner credits for us? Someone told my DH that the luau was something not to be missed, he was really going on and on about it. I am now seriously thinking about trying to get ressies for this instead of CRT....How many times can I change my mind?? Oh better not answer that one..Are you going there when you go in August?

mal - O'hana is a restaurant inside the Polynesian. It is served family style - all you can eat; meats cooked on skewers over an open fire. They do games & activities for kids during the meal - coconut races, the limbo. It's really a nice evening. It is only 1 TS credit.

The luau - which I can offer no information on - is a dinner show in an outdoor theater at the Polynesian. The have hula dancers and live music. We stayed there 2 years ago and could hear the music from our balcony but we didn't eat there. We've been hesitant to book this one as it seems we've heard more negative commments than positive. My instinct though is that it is probably an experience the whole family would enjoy.

We aren't going this year...we had a hard time working in some of our families faves (like O'hana) and mixing in a few places we haven't tried yet. New this year is dinner at Marakesh - we love their counter service at Tangerine Cafe so we had to give it a try. We are also finally getting to go to Teppan Edo this year....had to cancel last year for a minor emergency while we were there. I've heard really great reviews about their food. And also - Yak & Yeti. The menu looks really yummy!

Whatever you decide, I'm sure it will be magical.

Thanks so much for the info. I wonder if we should consider going and just doing the dinner at Ohana instead of the luau?? I saw what you mean, I looked at reviews and the majority were negative. We are also so looking forward to Teppan Edo! Our DD (13) just loves anything and everything to do with Japan, plus we love this kind of food. Also very much looking forward to Le Celliers for lunch. Thanks for all of your input, I really do value any and every bit of advice!

Mal

I have done both CRT and Luau.

We did CRT for breakfast when my daughter was into princesses. The breakfast was nothing to talk about. The inside was cool though.

We did the Luau in 2008. The show was authentic, a little goofy with the story they tell, but hula dances, fire twirlers/spitters. The food was family style Polynesian chicken/ribs/rice/ a real good salad with some kind of fruity dressing. And if you go you have to get the Volcano/lava cake. Oh God its good.

If I had to pick between the 2 I would do the Luau again. Just realkize if it rains the show gets cancelled.

I only had the breakfast at CRT and I wasn't crazy about it. It seemed rushed and the breakfast meals were plated so you had to ask for more and by the time it came, folks weren't hungry anymore.

We have never done the Luau. We have done Ohana, and it is really good. If I had to choose one, I think it would be CRT. Just because I haven't been there yet....

Well I did it-I changed reservations from CRT to the luau. I hope it's worth it! I had my heart set on CRT but you know what???? It's Disney-how unhappy should I have the right to be????? I do think we will all enjoy. DS won't eat a thing that they have but he'll enjoy show for sure!

DS might change his mind when the ribs come out. Even my DS who was picky tried a few. My daughter chose the Smuckers peanut butter and jelly pocket. Great I spent all that $$$ for a $3.00 pbj sandwich. Sad

Docmidnite,
I think we might actually just feed him somewhere else beforehand and maybe have one more dining credit left, but then again, what would we do with just one?? But I am with you, seems such a waste if they won't "dig in"...Did your kids enjoy the show??

My daughter thought the show was cool. My son doesn't remember it...so that should tell you what he thought.
