Leaving in the middle of august and trying to make the final plans but can't figure out our dinner plans for our time at AK. Has anyone been to both Boma's and Tusker House or either one...which do you prefer. Any opinions would be great. Great site!!! Thanks Smile

welcome to the CSR Forum!

I've been to the Tusker House and love it. Very good food. It may be easier than leaving the park to go to AKL for Boma.

Tusker House - this was our 2nd favorite meal in the trip that we just completed - the selection was terrific and the quality was high - and if you make a ADR between 1 and 1:45, you will get reserved seating for the 3:15 or 4:45 Nemo show.

Tusker House is my DH's new favorite...we have done breakfast there and he loved it so much we are trying dinner there this year. Coincidentally, we are doing Tusker House because I could not get the ADR time I wanted for Boma. I know a lot of folks trash the buffets, but we really do like them. We like the freedom to try a lot of different foods, and when you have kids that are good eaters, they get tired of the constant parade of chicken nuggets, pzza and mac and cheese offered at the "menu" table service places.

Tusker H was one I had to cancel although would love to try! We have no buffets on our trip since our DS is so extremely picky. DD is not, she loves to try new things..Let me know how the dinner is!

I will let you know how dinner is. As an FYI, most of the CMs at the buffets will make a run for someting if your DS couldn't find something. The buffets all, if memory serves, have chicken nuggets/strips/fingers and/or pb&j. DS being picky at age 3 was why we started doing buffets, and we never had an issue. Now that he is a ripe old 8 y/o, we have stuck with buffets because he gets very, very tired of the kids choices.

To be honest, I am already worried about there not being anything for him at some places we are eating-definitely Teppan Edo, we will feed him before going. Also the luau...It can be so stressful having a picky eater..... Sad

WDW has been catering to little kids for a long time. For several months, my younger brother would only eat PB&J's........ If there is something specific that any of your family requires or needs to avoid, let a concierge know or tell the CM when making reservations. We can add those notes to the reservation and they do get read.
