PostSubject: Fireworks and other things...   Sun Jul 11, 2010 4:12 pm

I have spent so much time planning where we will stay (and changing that 4 times before I decided on CSR!), lots of time planning where we will eat, especially when we got the free dining, and time spent learning about rides and attractions at all the parks. Now I have realized that I know pretty much nada about all the fireworks and things like that in all the parks! I know very little about these things. Can anyone help? Also, we have dining reservations at 9:30 at the castle one night and I found out that MK closes that night at 10. Will there be fireworks while we are there? I am confused by all of this..Thanks in advance. Tink

I think you're going in August - as I remember right around the time of our trip. So...

From August 1 -14 the Magic Kingdom is doing the Summer NIghtime Fireworks Spectacular at 10pm

The schedule for Wishes (MK fireworks) during August is:

8/15 - 8/21, 8/23 - 8/28 & 8/30 - 10pm
8/22, 8/29 & 8/31 9pm

Illuminations (Epcot fireworks) is at 9pm nightly throughout August.

Both shows are really terrific but I am very partial to Wishes. I can't help but to tear up a little bit. Be sure not to miss Tinkerbell's flight from the castle! I would definately recommend choosing a spot about an hour ahead of the start time for optimal viewing.

Kathiep, yes I think we are going at same time-Aug 21-28. Can you see fireworks from the castle if you are eating there? Do I need to request a certain part of restaurant?? Thanks for the info!

We arrive on the 20th and are staying until 8/28. We had booked for CSR again (our favorite) but DH also has the "drive" to stay at all the resorts at least once...so he switched us to the Wilderness Lodge. I think I will miss CSR - although we're still at Disny so how bad can it be? We were just at CSR last year. Besides, I'm sure I can convince him to swing by for a meal.

I have never been inside the castle during the fireworks. But the view from the castle overlooks the carousel and the side of Fantasyland. There are some table right agains the window but it's a small room and all tables can see out the windows. I don't think they take seating requests. We've had dinner and breakfast there and they pretty much seat you as they can. I imagine if it weren't crowded you might ask to move to a different table.

I can't imagine it would offer much of a view of the fireworks but maybe someone else know more from experience.

I was really hoping we could see them from the castle-oh well, we'll still catch them at some point. I would love to try WL-I even looked into it for us. If I downgraded our tickets, etc it wouldn't have been that much more, but if we kept the same package it would have been too much-DH said no way. But I have a good friend who always stays at WL. A few months ago they went to Disney again but had to go on a much smaller budget and stayed at a value-she absolutely hated it! She loves WL, so I can imagine going from a deluxe to a value must be hard...Let us know how you like it! You know we are both only 6 weeks away from our trip!! I cannot wait..

We've never stayed at the Values. I'm sure if I had to, I would. But when we've visited, they seem so crowded, loud and busy. The moderates are just so much more relaxed.

Quite honestly, if I had my preference we'd be staying at any one of the moderates too. We really don't spend a lot of time at the resort. And even if we did, I can't really justify the price difference in my mind. But DH really wants to do this so I am not stressing over it. Besides, he keeps threatening that this year will be the last for a while - he wants to try something else - anything non-Disney. pale pale pale
