Okay, I just found out I have 40 points and I didn't even know it. I'll have to start using that card more to pay for things and then pay it off ASAP. I'm excited now. I'll have to read more about it.

Malacajo - I know exactly how you feel. I feel like I how a million things to get done and no time to do them!

I still need to pick up the food and snacks that we like to keep in our room as well as a case of bottled water. I still need to get new sneakers and hubby's favorite pair of sandals just broke so I guess that needs to be added to the list.

I wouldn't worry about not stopping in Savannah. You'll be so happy just to be getting to Disney you won't even think about it. I think it'll work out good that you don't have dinner ressie's because then you can just play it by ear. Either go out and have a meal or if you're not quite up to it, you can relax and eat by the pool!!

We driving from NJ so I understand how you feel. I honestly don't mind the ride too much - it's become like a mini-adventure for us. We are leaving Thursday 8/19. I'm the early bird and hubby is the night owl. So we usually leave here around 6 am with me taking the first leg of the journey. We'll switch back and forth through out the day. Then when I am really dragging around 10pm - hubby really starts to kick it into high gear. We'll normally go for about 15-16 hours. As much as it kills us the first day, we like to get right around the Ga/Fla border. That way we know we can sleep in a bit the next morning and then arrive on the day of check in around lunch time without being totally wiped out.

Think about me as you drive - our 11 hour mark is only South of the Border No

Kathiep, Ok I really need to stop whining here...15-16 hrs????? Oh my gosh. We have just never been good car riders-I guess our kids get it honestly! They are really complaining now because we have decided not to take my mini-van, we are going to drive my husbands car. It's so much better on gas. They are used to having their own seats to stretch out in. I keep telling them that there are much much worse things in the world than this! I had to go to the doc today-for two weeks I have had a lot of pain in one toe, but it comes and goes. Well I work on my feet so it's only gotten worse and last night it was throbbing. Today I woke up and it's swolen-went and got x-rays and they see nothing. I told her that I have to be up and running, not just for work but I told her I am going to Disney for goodness sake! My hubby said if he has to rent me a scooter he will and maybe we'll get to the front of lines....LOL Here's to happy and safe trips for us all! Hope you all enjoy WL this time!

Yes - we leave next Thursday morning. And I have to admit I have a bit of pre-trip paralysis setting in! I have so much to do but have no idea where to start affraid

Well at least we are going to get DH new sneakers tonight - 30% off coupon for Kohls -
I will also be buying the kids school sneakers because there will only be a week until school starts when we return. I want to be fully ready for th e1st day of school.

Maybe I can get things going on Saturday. DH will be working and I surprisingly get so much more done when he's out of my hair.

Kathiep, ended up not being able to see this pod in our town, so I have an appt with the original one on Tues-I am praying I don't need to go by then, but still so very sore to walk! I am on feet at work all night, and I work for the next 9 days straight, I may need a wheelchair by then! LOL But after much debate with friends, went out today and bought a pair of running shoes and got DS some also-he needed school shoes anyway and Rack Room was buy 1 get 1 half, so got a great deal. My plan has been to wear flip flops (I could live in them) but now with the foot, decided I had better take good shoes too! Does your family wear shoes like this?? I still have much to get together for our trip also, not just the running to get snacks, etc., but the last minute laundry/house cleaning will drive me nuts! Hope it's going smoothly for you! Keep fingers crossed for my foot! Thanks..Oh one more thing-we have friends that are in Disney this week and they say the heat is very bearable, hot but not horrible-hope it's like that for all of us!

OMG - I love Rack Room. I can't believe you just mentioned it. There's one right by my parent's house and it's become a must-do for every trip! I wish there was one around here. I am just trying to get through to Saturday but there's so much to do between now and then. Of course I have work, and housework, things to buy, kids to get off to camp. One of my friend's brother's passed suddenly so Friday night I have that and unfortunately it's about an hour north of here. Add to that - the only real way to get home will have me fighting summer time beach traffic. It'll probably take me 3 hours to get home. I will miss DD's dance "parent's viewing class" and I still have to get DD to the dentist Friday morning. (I don't like the dentist - got big problems there and DD can't have novacaine. Don't know if it's worse for her or me)

DH will be working all daySaturday so if I can just get there - I might bring up the luggage and start to get organized.

That's funny at Rack Room-that's where we buy probably 90% of our shoes! When you mentioned Kohl's I was thinking oh I wish we had one here..We have to drive an hour for a decent mall..It's always so stressful trying to get organized-I hope you get a little break there before..My DS wants his good friend to come and spend the night sometime before we go and before school starts (our kids will miss first 3 days), but I told him there is literally not one night between here and then, I feel so bad! Hope it all comes together for you with minimal stress!

Try to break the new sneakers in before you go...even if its just a bit. You don't want Dh getting any blisters.

ITA w/ kathie and Buzz---break those shoes in if you can! In case you get a blister mal, you may want to pack some moleskin w/ you. It saved my feet at WDW one time and now I never travell anywhere without some.

So sorry you are having foot probs. I planned a WDW trip for my Aunt and her grand babies but when she got there, she ended up in the hospital w/ bloodclots in her leg! It was heartbreaking for her and so scary, BUT she managed to get around in a wheelchair. So, IF you have to get a wheelchair/cart, so be it, right?! Here's some pixie dust for you~ for all of your trip!!!

You can count down the hours now!

Thank you for the kind words! I need all the pixie dust I can get at this point! My foot continues to be swollen and painful and I am truly afraid of what the podiatrist will tell me tomorrow. I am not a "sit around and rest" type of person, especially when we are headed to Disney for the first time-I don't want to miss a thing. I am thinking though that there may have to be days that I take it easy by the pool while my family ventures off..If worse comes to worse with that I think well lounging by the pool in Disney is a heck of a lot better than being at home..

Ok to all of my Disney and CSR friends..Went to podiatrist this morning and the diagnosis of my ailing foot is called Capsulitis..Long story short-I have to wear this pad taped to ace bandage on bottom of my foot along with a surgical shoe (which is NOT going to go over well at my work!), and the best part is, he wants me in a wheelchair next week. I have joked about the wheelchair, but I am a get up and go person-I had tears when he told me this. He said I could try and just wear my surgical shoe but would probably be too uncomfortable with all that walking. So-of course here's my question: Anyone have info on renting a wheelchair there or scooter there? I wonder how much this will hit our pockets! I am so upset-I have never had any type of foot injury until of course, right before my first Disney trip!! What are the odds?????? Ugh. At least I'll be in Disney, right???

Oh no! So sorry to hear this mal!!

I have no idea about the prices of renting wheelchairs or scooters. But no matter what, I am sure it will all work out. You will somehow still make this a very magical trip.

More importantly, what's the long term information on this condition? Will it heal by itself or is surgery a possibility?

Yikes!!! I would rent from an outside company, because you are not guaranteed one if you rent at Disney. MY BFF, who went with us last year, rented one for her hubby. I will find out who he used and get back to you.

Mal-here is the company my BFF's husband used

http://www.walkermobility.com/information.php

The other area rental place that may have better prices:

http://randysmobility.com/randys/Welcome.html

I might add that my BFF works for a durable medical equipment supplier (I worked there with her for 8 years), so she did her homework on these places. Good luck!!!!

mal---this is such a bummer! So so so so sorry. The disboards 9www.disboards.com) should have a lot of info as well as this site. http://allears.net/pl/ecv_faq.htm

Also, you might want to take a note from your doc so that when you get to the parks you can show this to teh CM's and ask advise---I woudol also call WDW directly and speak w/ a CM ---I feel sure they have a CM who specializes in this sort of thing.

My Aunt rented a regular wheelchair at b/c it was the cheapest and also b/c she ended up not getting around very much---If there is a way to splurge for the ECV type, I say try that--- I agree that you can rent form outside of WDW and is worth checking into----however, IF something goes wrogn with it. you know you'll get WDW quality---not sure about off site places-----oh my gosh this is so soon before your trip---the good news is you will be able to get up and walk at least in small bits! You have waited so long so get there, so I say rent the morotized type if you can possibly afford it. The good news is that you can go to the front of the line to get on the buses! (Well actually you get on ath the backdoor fo the bus).

Keep us posted on your decision---doc is right---there is no way you can get all around WDW w/o help w/ a wheelchair. Think of this, too---many people have to do this, so do not feel like you'll need ot explain yourself to everyone---know what I mean? Whatever you get, think of it as the princessmobile! My Aunt said the wheelchair was not convenient to say the least--but her grankids enjoyed taking turned psuhing her in it.

My young next door neighbor became gravely ill the week he and his family were to go to WDW this past spring and they had to cancel their trip and lost a bit of $ (well, his MIL did). So gues I am saying at least you can still go and I know you will make the most of it! You poor thing! No wonder you have been in pain.

There are a couple of big problems with the on-site rentals:
1. No guarantee you will get one, they are 1st come, 1st served
2. They must stay at the park you rent them-you have to walk to the bus, from the bus, or hope that there is a courtesy w/c available.
3. No rentals in DTD (at least not last year)

The other option, and this also has risks, is to rent one locally, before you leave. Airlines will allow you to gate check an ECV or wheelchair free of charge (most- AirTran, SW and AA for sure), so you will have your w/c or scooter in the airport. The problem with this, is that unless you use a rental company that also has an office in or near Orlando, you are pretty much on your own if something goes wrong. Anyway, if you have any more questions, PM me and I will give you my e-mail address. I did this for a living for 8 years, so I could be of some help if you need it.
